The Cypress House Inn was built in 1946 as a private hunting and fishing lodge. After many different housing uses, the property is now a vintage-style Outer Banks bed and breakfast featuring five guest rooms and the entire third floor as a rentable suite called The Loft.

At Mile Post 8 on the Beach Road (also known as Route 12 or North Virginia Dare Trail), the Cypress House Inn is located on the beautiful Outer Banks of NC and features easy walking access to the beach. We provide beach chairs and beach towels to all Inn guests. Just grab your flip-flops and head on over to the beach! Our rooms are appointed with queen-sized or king-sized beds, private bathrooms, SmartTVs, and free wireless internet access.

Mornings @ The Cypress House

Wake up to coffee or tea available right outside your room door for B&B room guests or in-suite for Loft guests. You can enjoy your morning beverage in your room or take it to-go and enjoy the wrap-around porch, the backyard patio or walk across the street to the beach to enjoy a sunrise. Loft guests can sit outside on their private deck with ocean views and enjoy a morning sunrise.

The Cypress House Inn offers a full breakfast to all Inn and Loft guests during the season. (Please note that breakfast is not provided for off-season Loft guests when the B&B rooms are closed, typically November through March.)

Each full breakfast starts with seasonal fresh fruit often served in individual-sized vintage glass dishes or jelly jars. Fresh fruit is followed by a breakfast entree which may consist of a frittata with a variety of vegetables and cheeses, hash-brown quiche, honey-orange French toast, or some other tasty breakfast entree accompanied by a breakfast meat.

During breakfast, fresh orange juice is provided as well as assorted teas and coffee.

Vegetarian and other dietary needs are easily accommodated. Just let us know when you book online or at check-in and we can accommodate your preferences.

Explore the Area

There is so much to do on the Outer Banks. Kill Devil Hills and the Cypress House Inn are centrally located to all the major attractions and great restuarants!

Whether you want to see the dolphins, go hiking, deep-sea fishing or kayaking there is something for you to do in the area. There are also four lighthouses on the Outer Banks, Currituck Lighthouse (28 miles north of the B&B), Bodie Island Lighthouse (16 miles south), the infamous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (60 miles south) and the Ocracoke Lighthouse (60 miles south on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, then ferry ride to Ocracoke Island).

The Cypress House is only 200 ft from the beach with a public beach access and crosswalk directly in front of the Inn. We are conveniently located for the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun on the beach! It is an amazing place for a relaxing family vacation or romantic getaway.
